Moving a child to another city or country is not a unilateral decision, even if it is taken by the parent who has custody. A change of residence affects visiting arrangements, schooling and the child\u2019s relationship with the other parent, and requires agreement between both parents or, if no agreement can be reached, court authorisation. <\/p>\n

If you wish to move house, the sensible thing to do is to try to reach an agreement and, if this is not possible, to apply for a variation of the arrangements before the move. Doing so afterwards may result in an order to return the child or, if the destination is another country, in proceedings for abduction. <\/p>\n

If you object to the transfer proposed by the other party, there are ways to regulate or prevent it, but speed is of the essence.
